Punggol is a beautiful place, in fact, it is well-developed now (although a bit ulu la) as compared to other coastal areas such as the east coasts. Besides newly-built HDBs, Punggol now boasts several entertainment spots, like cycling/jogging tracks, prawning facilities and a hell lot of cafes and restaurants. We were there cycling one Sunday afternoon and we decided to pop by some of the cafes to try them out. Just the Place might be just the place you are looking for a quick break to have some bites, or simply just to chill the shit out on a hot weekend afternoon with some brunch... or well, beer on a Friday night. Albeit being just a year old, this cafe has already gathered a steady stream of followers.
"Our food is wholesome like German cooking with French finese and always served with the warm hospitality of the Italians."
If you're looking for a more decent meal, have a go at their Eggs Benedict - English muffins tiooed with nicely poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, salad and a choice of either bacon or smoked salmon. Their hollandaise sauce was slightly thin and watery, whilst more vinaigrette can definitely be use to enhance the salad.
All in all, Just the Place is a nice place with air-conditioned and al-fresco dining accompanied by an unobstructed view of the sea. It has a nice toilet too, considering the fact that the nearest toilet is probably five minutes walk away. However, the service line was very, very slow and unresponsive. In fact, on that day we went, only a quarter of the seats are utilised, yet the waiting time exceeded 30 minutes - a turn off for anyone who might just want to grab some bites in-between cycling time (if they rent the bikes). Nonetheless, I will definitely be back for their other offerings, but probably after trying out the other cafes and restaurants, if I happen to be in Punggol. Damn far sia.
